Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the contribution of emotional empathy and personality traits in predicting the protection of veterans' spouses. The method of this research is descriptive-correlational in terms of applied purpose and in terms of the nature of the method. The statistical population of the present study included all the spouses of surviving veterans in Alborz province in 2020. The sampling method in the present study was simple random and using this method, 371 people were selected as the sample group. To measure the variables of the present study, the 5-factor neo-personality questionnaire, the emotional empathy scale and the protection motivation theory questionnaire were used. Pearson correlation coefficient test and regression analysis were used to analyze the data of the present study and SPSS statistical tool was used for this purpose. The results of Pearson correlation coefficient showed that there is a significant relationship between the protection of veterans' spouses with emotional empathy and personality traits (flexibility, adaptation, conscientiousness, neuroticism and extraversion) (p <0.05). The results of regression analysis showed that emotional empathy and personality traits can significantly predict the protection of veterans' spouses (p <0.05). Based on this, it can be concluded that emotional empathy and personality traits are effective factors in protecting the spouses of veterans.
