Abstract
The present study, with a practical purpose and descriptive / analytical method from the branch of correlation, investigated the relationship between the role of Sensation Seeking and social intimacy in predicting addiction tendency among addicts in various rehabilitation centers in Amol city. For this purpose, 420 samples (from a population of 1000) were randomly selected by Cochran's formula using multi-stage cluster sampling method and three IAPS questionnaires with reliability obtained through Cronbach's method (0.733%), ZSSS with Cronbach's reliability ( 0.797%) and MSIS with Cronbach's alpha (0.745%) were distributed and collected among them. Data were analyzed by SPSS software, Kalmogronov/Smirnov test (to determine the normality of the distribution of variables), two-sentence t-test for research hypotheses, Pearson coefficient correlation test and linear regression analysis for It was independent of the dependent variable. The highest number of respondents were men (68.1%), the highest age group was 31 to 40 years (40%) and the highest number of respondents were bachelors (33.5%). The components of the main hypothesis and the first hypothesis had a positive and significant correlation and were confirmed. The second hypothesis was confirmed with a negative and significant correlation at the level of 5% probability between the variables. The results showed that with increasing Sensation Seeking, the rate of substance abuse increased and with increasing social intimacy, the rate of dependence on addiction decreased. Also, the highest correlation was between the two variables of Sensation Seeking and readiness for addiction (0.560) and the lowest correlation was between social intimacy and readiness for addiction (0.350).
